“I trained my last five years before college under Missy Lay Zimmer and Andrew Hubbard. My ballet technique was refined under their ballet director, Jennifer Porteous-Rutherford. When I jumped into dance classes in New York I was humbled by feeling quite comfortable and confident at my ability to keep up in class. Techniques that the Steps on Broadway faculty were teaching felt very familiar and reminded me VERY MUCH of Missy, Andrew and Jen.

I feel very lucky to call them my teachers for many reasons. The training they gave me helped to bridge the leap from pre-professional in Cincinnati to professional in New York City. I don't think many people can say they felt comfortable in that transition time.”

In their own words…

“The environment has always felt like a second home and the teachers and Missy & Andrew there played a vital role in shaping the dancer I am today. Each class, whether it was technique or choreography, pushed me to grow and I’m so grateful for Missy & Andrew and their constant support and encouragement. They not only helped me develop my skills but also taught me the importance of dedication, discipline, and passion for dance.”

“Missy, Andrew, and Jen have been a huge contribution to my growth as a dancer. It was so refreshing finding a studio that focused more on student growth than winning trophies. Their training not only breeds incredibly stylistic dancers but also teaches students the value of ballet training and technique. With such loving faculty members and peers, I have always felt well taken care of, which consistently provides the perfect space for creative movement and of course enjoyment! They taught me maturity in my dancing and have only increased my love for the arts. I feel more than prepared to endeavor into the real world of dance with confidence and passion!”

“The environment is very community oriented. Everyone is always there to support you and wish you well. This community allowed me to take more risks with my dancing and not be afraid of failing. The faculty helped me realize that messing up is OK and should be celebrated instead. Planet Dance has given me the tools and the information that I need to be great, and I would not be where I am today without Missy and Andrew along with the rest of the faculty. I am so thankful for my experience under their direction.”
